Utah Trip 2013: Wedding, Sunday Fun, and Great Grandma's House

Steve and I and the kids slept in my parents nice and cool (and very dark!) basement. Us Marylanders usually wake up really early when we go west but apparently not when we're sleeping in a cave. Thinking that we would have no problem waking up on time we didn't set an alarm. On the morning of the wedding Steve and I woke up to the sound of something dragging across our bedroom carpet. I laid there in the dark thinking it was one of the kids dragging their sleeping bag into our room. Then we heard a little voice say, "Hey guys, do you want to eat lunch with me?" It was Duncan and I was thinking it was too early for breakfast and that I wanted to let the kids sleep longer. Then Steve looked at his phone and realized we had overslept. We flipped on the light and started getting our family ready right away. We were so glad Duncan crawled all the way downstairs dragging his gimpy little leg to wake us up so that we weren't late for the whole reason why we came to Utah.

The wedding day was an absolute blast. It was so good to see so many wonderful people all in one place. It was a really special wedding ceremony and so awesome to have all of us siblings and spouses in the temple together. We were all thinking a lot about my grandpa that day and how special families are. I'm so grateful for the temple.

The wedding reception was so much fun and beautiful too. The kids ate waffles and ice cream and lemonade all night and Steve and I had fun talking to friends and family. We wished we would have had more time to talk!!

The day after the wedding was Sunday. After church the kids quickly changed and went outside to play in the yard. We played until it was time to go to my Grandma's house for dinner.

Charlie is just a miniature Duncan. It was so fun to finally hold this little guy and meet him in person.

Poor Duncan with his hurt leg.

Since Duncan couldn't walk very well he asked Steve to help him have a turn.

Kylee loved this go cart that Aubrey got when she was little. Kylee was on it constantly.

My dad got out his motorcycle helmets for the kids to wear while riding bikes.

On the way to my grandma's house we stopped for a much needed visit with the Fish family. The kids pray for Natalie and Alice all the time and exchange letters with the kids so it was really good for them to play together.

We did a quick drive-by of the Timpanogos temple so Steve could take some pictures. I loved driving by this temple all the time when we lived in Utah.

This kid is such a crack up!

Tyler and Livy had a special bond called whip cream.

Tyler would spray some on her hand and she would eat it.

My grandma is a very special lady and visiting her was a highlight of our trip. She has an incredible ability to make you feel at home and feel special every time you are around her. And seeing her be so strong and faithful now that my grandpa has passed makes me love her even more.
