Moving Day

We packed up the truck in about 2 hours (thanks to everyone who helped!). Then we rested for a minute on the grass, ate some Jimmy Johns, and started on the cleaning while Cody swindled Grandpa Airplane in a game of Memory. He gets his cheater skills from the Cramer side of the family so I guess Grandpa Airplane deserved it.

Sweet's Candy Factory Tour

For our last play group in Utah we went to the Sweet's Candy Factory in West Valley and took a tour. Everybody had to wear a hair net (including Kylee) and they gave us samples of all the candy at all the different candy kitchens. They make cinnamon bears, jelly beans, orange and raspberry sticks, and salt water taffy. At then at the end they gave each of us a little bag of taffy (that is what Cody is holding here).

Fun facts about jelly beans: It takes one year to train to make jelly beans because it is all done by hand with no measuring and it takes 6 days from start to finish making a jelly bean.

A Quick Bear Lake Trip

Our brother-in-law Bob was nice enough to plan a weekend for us to visit his family's cabin at Bear Lake. It was one last bash before we headed out for PA the next week.

Cody on the Skim Board (with a little help from Grandpa)

Steve on the Manatee. Bob and Steve snuck up on me through the grass in the water while I was standing on the beach. I didn't even see them! Here is another one of Steve's lovely poses. What is he portraying do you think? Looks to me like he is saying something like: "I don't have a clue."

Steve and Tif on the beach with Bob's cabin in the background (on the right egde of the picture).

Steve on the Skim Board. He got the hang of it pretty fast after some coaching from Bob who is the Master.

I love this picture. Early Saturday morning some of us went out on the boat. Here are two sleepy heads with the same exact bed-head. Can you see their little tweaky hair on the side of their head in the exact same place? :)

Cody really liked being on the boat.

Without any coaxing Cody got brave and went out on the tube with Grandpa. This was Cody's first time and he did awesome. You can see that he is pointing. I think he is trying to be cool like Bob and give signals to the driver. When Bob was wake boarding he was giving Steve signals and so of course Cody had to be like his cool uncle. I am not sure what Cody wanted to have happen when he signaled. At one point he gave a signal where he was moving his hand in a circle so Bob decided to turn the boat and circle around. The tube dumped Cody off and he wasn't expecting it. I don't think that's what Cody had in mind. Despite the plunge Cody had a great time.

The happy parents of a cute little tubing boy.

Kylee's big smile

We decided to have a little birthday party for Cody since we would be moving across the country on his actual birthday. Sara made a really cool reversible cape for him that was Superman on one side and Batman on the other. Of course he wouldn't try it on at first so we put it on Kylee instead.

Kylee and mom watching Cody open presents.

Then Sara took the kids outside to see if she could get Cody to put on the cape for some pictures. Kylee was very cooperative.

Kylee had fun crawling around on the giant porch that goes all the way around the cabin.

Well, Sara did get Cody to cooperate as well. She even got him to run so she could get the cape in action.

And he's still running.

And we can't get him to stop running.

Cody flexing for the camera.

Now he gives us the pleasure of seeing his muscles from a different angle.

Brooke made the cutest banner for Cody. He said he wanted a Spongebob birthday so she made this (no computers were used in the making of this banner).

Cody and his giant brownie cake. He spelled his name with M&M's. Pretty fancy cake, eh? I guess mom was on vacation too.

Good thing Brooke came through for me. She made some decorations for the cake ahead of time. And my mom bought the little Patrick and Spongebob figures for it too.

Here is the Bear Lake group (minus my Grandma and Grandpa Bush who were also there). This is taken from the backyard of Bob's cabin.

Thanks again Bob and Sara for the fun weekend. We love you guys!

The Las Vegas Apartment Party

Kylee and Lacey after swimming

Cody at his favorite water park on his favorite frog with two of his favorite aunts

Steve is ironing his shirt for church on a tiny stool. Eight people in a one bedroom apartment getting ready for church is pretty CrAzY. But we were on time!

Our wonderful family photo at Mary Jane Falls. Look how cooperative our children are!

Kylee and Steve hiking up to the falls.

Cody is a happy hiker. He's just a chatter box the whole time.

Grandpa and Cody hiking

Kylee is a great hiker too. Especially when Grandpa carries her all the way down the mountain while she sleeps.

Cody and Grandpa with their homemade masks. Cody was busy with a lot of "projects" while we were there. There were little bits of paper taped up everywhere.

Last time we came to Las Vegas Grandma and Cody made Rice Crispy Treats. This time the special treat was donuts!

Cody and Grandpa wrestling on the only bed in the apartment which is lovingly called "The Picnic Table" because its so comfy :)

These kids love the waterpark! They were there for hours. I've heard there are water parks in Pittsburgh so we will definitely be checking those out.

They had these cool water guns!

Kylee liked being in the stroller and playing with the water more than being on the ground.

Wrestling with dad in their sleepover shirts.

This is Cody's "Grandpa Dance" imitating Steve's dad. I love how his shorts are pulled up. HiLaRiOuS!

Zions National Park

DAY ONE

Family picture in Kolob Canyon on the Taylor Creek Trail. Kylee is in there. She's snoozing in the pack on Steve's back.

Cody climbing rocks

Cody and I hiking on the Taylor Creek Trail. It was SO hot.

Kylee taking a little break from the kid pack.

We stayed at a house in Springdale (right outside the park) that is owned by my parents' friends. This is the view from their back porch. Amazing, huh?

DAY TWO

The Middle Emerald Pool on the Emerald Pools hike

Steve & Tif at the Upper Emerald Pool

Cody & Aunt Brooke at the Upper Pool

Cody and Tif on the trail from Emerald Pools to the Grotto

Looking down on the Angel's Landing trail

Steve almost to the top of Angel's Landing

DAY THREE

This is a little waterfall just below Weeping Rock.

On the Riverwalk Trail. Steve made us hike primitive trails so that he could get some good pictures.

Cody catching tadpoles

Kylee zonked in her pack. Our kids are such good sports when it comes to hiking

On the Canyon Overlook hike

Our kids are amazing hikers. We saw everything we wanted to see and they hung in there with good attitudes the whole time. We drove home late Friday night after 3 days of hiking. When Cody woke up the next morning he wanted to go hiking. I think we have found something that our family likes to do together.
