Crossing the Country To Our New Home

We saw lots of beautiful sunrises on our move to PA. Steve and I got up about 4:00 am each morning so that we could get a good head start on the day while the kids rested up. Every part of the drive was beautiful. We had beautiful weather and no major problems at all. Kylee got car sick at 4:00 am in Parley's Canyon and that was about it. We were really blessed to have a smooth and enjoyable trip.

We took a whole day off from driving and hung out in Nauvoo. Here is our family in front of the Nauvoo Temple.

In Nauvoo there is a little park area called "Pioneer Pastimes" where they have tons of Pioneer clothes and toys and games for the kids to try out. Cody made some friends while Kylee took a nap in the car. This was the first thing we did after walking around the temple and Cody did not want to leave. Here he is playing in the drinking fountain with two other boys.

With a lot of persuasion we finally got Cody to leave his friends so we could see some of the other sights. We went on an ox cart ride and the kids liked that.

Here we are in front of the nice oxen who took us for a ride. One ox had a runny nose and he mistook my arm for a kleenex right before the picture was taken. Hence my look of surprise.

Cody wasn't a happy camper this day. He either wanted to be riding in the moving truck (which we had done for 2 days straight, 12 hours each day) or playing with the kids at the "Pioneer Pastimes" area. This picture was taken after I told him that his birthday was the next day and then he perked right up. This is his look of surprise and excitement at the thought of his birthday right around the corner. The rest of the day Cody was happier. Why didn't I think to tell him that sooner?

On Cody's actual birthday we drove to Dayton, Ohio and visited the Wright Patterson Air Force Museum. Cody is standing in front of an F-22.

Here he is sitting in the cockpit of an F-16. Does Cody look older?

Here he is with an F-4.

By the time we got to the museum we only had about an hour before the museum closed. Although it would have been fun to spend more time I don't think our kids could have handled much more. Cody was anxious to get back to the moving truck ( as always) and Kylee just didn't like being strapped in (whether it be the car seat or the stroller it was all the same to her). So off we went to London, OH for the night where we had a deluxe Wendy's dinner complete with Birthday Frosty's.

The first night we stayed in North Platte, NE. The second night we stayed in Keokuk, IA which is just across the river from Nauvoo. The next day we played in Nauvoo and then drove to Hannibal, MO. Then we stayed in London, OH and the next morning drove into Pittsburgh.
