Since Multnomah Falls was such a fun Saturday adventure, we decided to go exploring again.
This time a little closer to home.
We drove out to White Bluffs to check out the view and play on the sand dunes.
(We read our Little House books again!)
When we turned off the highway onto the dirt road we spotted a great photo spot and the kids were kind enough to be our models for a little bit.
But first we had to get rid of the gum wad.
It was a little bit breezy, making Kylee's hair come alive.
But the real smiles were golden!

We had to interrupt Olivia's fun in the dirt for these pictures.

Then we drove out to the viewpoint.
It was a cool view of the river.
Steve wanted to hike to the sand dunes but we didn't see a trail. They are right by the river, about halfway between the viewpoint and where we pulled off the highway.
Steve found a very "primitive" (almost non-existent) trail and we hiked towards the dunes.
There were tons and tons of thorns and sticker bushes but it was still lots of fun.
Once we got to the sand the kids didn't want to leave.
At the very top of the highest dune they decided to slide down together.
Since we had hiked towards the direction of the highway, we decided that I would hike with the kids to the road and Steve would head back to the car and pick us up. That way the kids wouldn't have to hike as long. Steve grabbed the kids shoes and brought them to us and then headed towards the car.
It took awhile to get the thorns out of our socks and shoes.
But then we headed our separate directions.
The kids had fun and had sand in every crevice to prove it :)
