In May, a family in our ward, who are members of a yacht club, invited us to go sailing in the Puget Sound near Seattle.
We left early on a Thursday morning and drove to a marina in Seattle. After getting our luggage onto the boat and getting some groceries we set sail. We spent the whole rest of the day sailing.
For a little while the kids had fun getting towed behind us in the row boat.
We docked at Port of Kingston and went out for dinner.
On our way back from dinner we saw all the crabs being brought in on the fishing boats.
Trying to catch something with a net.
We also found a sea urchin.
It was fun to hold it and watch each of the spines slowly lengthen and shorten.

After exploring we set sail once again.
Before we left the marina, Bas asked the fisherman if he could buy a crab off them. They found one that was slightly injured from the nets and therefore couldn't be sold to restaurants. While we sailed we grilled the crab on a little grill that hung off the back of the boat.
I decided to be brave and eat a crab leg.
Cody did it too!
And Steve had one also although it wasn't his first time.
After we ate a crab leg, Bas went to town on the rest of the crab. He devoured every piece of that thing. He says the brain and lungs are his favorite part. Apparently we don't know what we're missing!

Two orca jumped out of the water right next to our boat. I was steering the boat and Steve was next to me. Everyone else was below deck and missed it. All we could do was scream when we saw them and by the time we could get a picture they were pretty far away.
Bas let Cody steer us in to the marina before heading home.
