If Only It Was On Camera...

1.
Livy is in this funny habit of saying "That was a close one!" and it's at all the wrong times. Yesterday we were carrying some groceries in the house and as soon as we stepped in the front door she said "that was a close one!" like we were being chased or something. I questioned, "That was a close one?" She just smiled and said matter-of-factly, "Yeah! We went to Costco!"

2.
Kylee loves to play "Primary" and Livy loves to join in lately. One of them plays the piano while the other one stands on a chair holding a book and leading the music. The other day all three of them were involved. I don't know how they roped Cody into that one! Cody was at the piano, Kylee was conducting the meeting and the music, and Livy was one of the children. Kylee had Livy stand on the chair when it was her turn to give a talk (Kylee whispered in her ear so she would know what to say).

3.
Lately, Cody has been on this kick of talking in a British accent. One day Kylee was trying to get him to focus on what she was telling him and he was going off with his accent and not paying much attention to her. Frustrated, she said, "Talk in real life, Cody!"

4.
A few weeks ago the children had fun skyping with my dad and asking him questions about what it was like growing up on a farm. My dad emailed a few black and white pictures of him as a boy to show them while they skyped so they could see what it looked like. A few nights later, Cody and I were talking on his bed before he went to sleep. I asked him if he had any questions he wanted to ask me and he said, "how old were you when the world turned color?"

5.
Usually Livy has to be reminded to fold her arms before the prayer. She's just a busy-body, I guess. One time Steve reminded her and she said, "I can't fold my arms because my bum hurts" (she had a diaper rash). Another time we were sitting down to eat dinner and she had taken off her shirt moments before (not sure why, but taking off her shirt is a thing these days). When Steve asked her to say the prayer she said, "No, because I'm not modest."

6.
When I lay Liv down for her nap I usually say, "good night, Sweetie." She always says "good night, Sweetie" back to me. I love it! It makes my day. I also like it when she says, "oooh! I like your shirt, Mom" when she sees me in the morning.

7.
Kylee was innocently using her middle finger the other day to point at something and we overheard Cody say, "Kylee don't use your middle finger; it's a bad habit."

8.
In our new Honda we can listen to music through the Pandora app on my phone and it plays through the car speakers. When we first get in the car it takes a few seconds to connect to the phone so it will say "Loading" on the screen. It doesn't take long but it's just enough time for kids to start requesting the songs they want and to wonder why the music isn't playing yet (less than 30 seconds, but it's amazing how long that can feel when everyone is impatient). When we first got the car, I would have to remind them that it says "Loading" so we just need to be patient and not whine. Now if you ask Kylee what "Loading" means she'll say it means be patient and no whining.
