Cody LOVES to play games and Grandpa was a really good sport to join in. He played any game however many times and with any creative rules Cody had up his sleeve. One of Cody's major favorites is Stratego. I think they played a new set of rules every time they played and they must have played it 50 times (Double Stack Stratego sounded cool: you can't attack the player on the bottom until you attack the one that is on top of it, or there was the speedy version that only lasted a minute, or there was the version where bombs and flags could move and you could play even if your flag was captured).

Since Cody's birthday is coming up my dad decided to send a present that Cody could open up and enjoy with Grandpa while he was here: a Champ RTF remote control airplane.
This airplane is a little miracle. The first time they took it out to fly we didn't know that it was too windy to be able to control it. After flying it for a minute the wind whipped it across a soccer field, over a pond, across a busy street, and into the top of a 30 ft tree. Steve and Grandpa tried and tried to get it down but nothing worked. Bummer. So we went home with our remote controller. We checked the tree every day to see if there were any changes not knowing if we would ever get it back. Then 3 days later it was down in the bushes! The only thing wrong with it was the landing gear was missing. But we were so happy to see it we didn't care about that! We have to be careful not to take it out when there is a breeze now.

I wish you were closer, or that we had cheaper superfast travel!! Our Spencer's favorite is Stratego too (one of many favorites) and we're equally grateful for patient grandpas that play and play and play--we could use a few cool variations though--esp. that speed stratego!
