Cody and Kylee were super excited for Livy's birthday. A few days before her birthday they started saying they were grateful for her birthday in their prayers and they are still saying it five days later.
We started out the day at the park. We had to keep busy because Cody and Kylee had presents on the brain. They were having a hard time waiting for Steve to get home from work.
Kylee's silly smile
the birthday girl watching everyone play while she chills in her stroller...there's a limit to what a girl does on her birthday when she's one years old.

At least Olivia loves to swing!
When Steve finally made it home the kids set all the gifts in front of Livy and expected her to tear into them. Well, of course, she took her sweet time and enjoyed the boxes. That's what first birthdays are for.
While we opened gifts Grandpa Airplane and Grandma Tammy called us. Livy loves skyping and made sure she showed off each gift to Grandma and Grandpa at least once or twice. Meanwhile Steve and I held Cody and Kylee back.
Lots of little board books.
This bib was a favorite. She must have showed it to Grandma and Grandpa 5 times.
Somehow Cody got passed the caution tape and got a gift out for Livy.
Then it was time to open Nana and Bob's gift. First she started by reading the card.
Then Cody ripped a little bit of the wrapping paper to get Livy interested.
She got interested all right. But not in the present, just in the little piece of wrapping paper. Eventually we helped her get to a cute swimming suit. Perfect! Now she can swim with the kids in our new kiddie pool!
In the package from Grandpa Dean and Grandma Ellen there was a little extra room so my mom threw in some of my favorite deodorant. Livy bypassed the pink car and fruit snacks and went straight for the deodorant first. It amazes me how babies are only interested in things that aren't real toys. Why?
The hair flowers from Brooke and Tyler were so cute and helped her release her grip on the deodorant.
After a half hour of perusing the gifts we decorated birthday cookies--cookie monster cookies to be exact. Hey, after two other birthday cakes in the last few weeks we thought we'd change it up a bit.
A cookie monster cookie eating a cookie. Two cookies in one!
Cody thought it would be funny to fight cookie monster for the cookie. And he told us to take a picture of it and write that on the blog. :)
We love you Livy!
