Our brave little kids are home now from their surgery and are doing well considering what they have been through today.
We put the kids in the car early this morning, dropped off Livy at a friends, and drove to the hospital with two of the happiest kids on their way to surgery I have ever seen.
We snapped some quick photos with Steve's phone...
Kylee was first. While she waited for the doctor to come for her she got to play on Steve's iPod. When it was time to go Steve went back with her (the reason for the lovely yellow gown he's sporting) until she fell asleep.
Cody was next. While he waited he happily read a book.
Last chance to show off his tonsils...
We asked the doctor to take off Cody's bandage on his ear while Cody was asleep. So now we won't have to yank off the bandaid. Bonus! Now we can see his stitches!
Cody about ready to go in.
Kylee had a rough time waking up. She cried, screamed, and kicked for the hour that Cody was in surgery until her pain medicine kicked in. She was disoriented and groggy and really wanted to go home. This is what we expected from our little firecracker. We were so glad that we only had one child to care for at this point because it was crazy.
After Kylee woke up from a little nap and Cody was coming around in the next room Kylee told Steve that she didn't like what these people were doing to her. Poor thing.
When Cody started waking up Steve asked him how he felt. Cody said in a sweet little whisper, "I feel very bad." (A little bit opposite of Kylee wouldn't you say.)
Now that we are home the kids have had some ice cream and popsicles and are watching movies. Their pain medicine tastes really bad, but other than that they seem to be hanging in there.
Thanks to everyone for your thoughts and prayers. We know they are helping!

Poor kids. I would have been in tears...I know because I felt like crying a little reading this post. :) So hard. I'm glad they are doing better. On a side note....you look really pretty. Not that you ever didn't but you still do. :)
I loved Kylee's and Cody's reactions..."I feel very bad". Glad they are having fun with ice cream and movies and that they get to do it together!
We just did that w/ our Anne this year!!--so tormenting, but the relief has been AMAZING!!! Glad you're through the other side!
